A Purpose Driven Life
Are you clear about your unique gifts and talents? How satisfying are your days? Are you truly living your purpose? It is said that the hardest and easiest thing is to be fully yourself. Yet a profound, natural intelligence yearns for expression within each of us. No one can tap this potential but you.
I am a Certified Purpose GuideTM. I help others find their purpose, or unique calling. On a practical level, a Purpose Guide helps you connect to your passion and longings; release the conditioning that keep you stuck; uncover your authentic self, and turn these insights into action to create a purpose-driven life.
So what does “living your purpose” mean anyway? When you live your purpose, you express your innate intelligence and talents, and are internally guided to share these gifts. You are driven to express yourself and contribute to the world around you. Your calling gives you a sense of belonging to something bigger than yourself, and your life takes that shape. When you are living your purpose you have a sense of completeness and ‘rightness.’
Purpose Guiding is a fundamental tool within my coaching toolkit. Once a person connects to their purpose they are literally unleashed. Their strengths, creativity, courage and magnetism are activated. There is nothing they cannot do.
A person who connects to their purpose does not have to completely change their life to live it. Often, they are already expressing it in some way, in a somewhat unaware or unclear manner. By naming their purpose, their life can feel more fulfilling because they recommit to what is already guiding them.
I was certified through the US based Purpose Guiding Institute (PGI). My first step was to complete a Purpose Discovery Program, where I deeply inquired about my own purpose, and how I wanted to translate that into my life, personally and professionally. After that, I completed a Purpose Guiding Certification Program.
The PGI programs are excellent and quite rigorous. Programs are delivered live, online, to an international cohort. They includes daily reading, writing, and practice; multiple weekly small group and large group work; studying with guest teachers and completing a personal vision quest. During the Purpose Guiding Certificate Program students deliver Purpose Guiding to practice clients under supervision.
I have had a long loved fascination with the question of purpose. Prior to PGI, I worked with several teachers; among them the late Barbara Marx Hubbard, and the luminaries Joanna Macy, Michael Mead, Alex and Allison Grey, Parker Palmer, and Bayo Akomolafe.
I actively continue to study the sciences of consciousness, psychology, and metaphysics. They all have a lot to say about how purpose is an intelligent evolutionary impulse that runs through us, and is important to a sustainable society. For over 25 years I have explored the ancient wisdom traditions of Vedanta, Sufism, and Buddhism. They share aligned philosophies on the purpose of a human life, and they agree that expressing our innate intelligences and passions are critical to fostering global healing.
Purpose Guiding training is never really “complete,” rather it is a practice that you becomes more masterful at over time, much like meditation. To share it with others, you need to be living it yourself.
I am committed to living my own purpose-driven life and have designed a system that works for me. It includes annual visioning, quarterly check-ins, weekly planning, meaningful ritual, reading, and writing. Also I stay connected to my purpose through my work guiding clients to explore and connect to their own. Lastly, I am grateful to stay connected to a global community of Purpose Guides, who are some of the most compassionate and giving people I’ve ever met.
Thank you Jonathan Guskin for continuing to share your life’s work, your own unique purpose to heal the world.
