Laws of Life: Part 1
Even as a little girl, I was always been interested in the nature of reality: how did this world work? How was light and color made? Why do warm breezes feel good? Why did ALL people feel powerful emotions like love, loyalty, and sadness? What was the reason for the Cosmos- the planets, stars, earth, and all the laws that govern them? What was the purpose of human experience- why were we here? How do we interact with the laws of the universe and why?
Alas, big questions for a small child. But the passing of time hasn't eased this curiosity, it has only made it stronger. Now, 40 plus years into this quest, the picture is starting to focus. Most of all, and quite thankfully, I am clear that the more I learn, the more I realize how little of this mysterious world I will ever understand.
All of our wisdom traditions teach the same core beliefs; that our ultimate purpose individually is to learn, to evolve our hearts and minds, and to realize that we are made up of the same mysterious and omni potential energy that makes the cosmos twirl, and that gives us all the mysteries of life.
We are that. And in being that, we have tremendous power to foster positivity and healing in the world. And in equal measure, we have the power to destroy human civilization and irrevocably damage the sacred web of life.
So with that in mind, I share some core teachings that took me a long time to discern. They help me make sense of the ups and downs, ebbs and flows in my life. They help me to understand how magical it is to be alive, and how much choice I really have. They help me see how powerful I am to be a healing force during my lifetime.
Some laws of life I wish I knew when I was 18:
1- You are 100% creator.
Not ‘co-creator,’ but 100% creator. Imagine this: every day you wake up, your life is a blank canvas sitting on an easel with paintbrushes and a color palate nearly. With every thought and every action you take, you paint your life into being; just like the saturated brushstroke establishes color and form on the canvas.
If you can consciously choose your thoughts and actions you will have 100% control over the life you create. Of course, while this is a simple and direct concept, it is endlessly challenging. It requires discipline, intention and self–compassion. Most people do not pull this off, but those who do see the effects of this law right away through mastery and contentment in their lives.
2- Your ultimate purpose is to learn, to grow, and to evolve.
That is the entire purpose of your life. Every day you are given on earth is a classroom to learn within. All of the miracles of your life, and especially the tragedies of your life, are meant to teach and to invite you to choose how to accept and respond to these events.
Scientific fact: the laws of the universe work through through life–enhancing and evolving actions, such as cooperation, communication, creativity and connection.
All of life is organized and maintained through actions that we would characterize as cooperative, life–enhancing, loving, compassionate and joyful, creative and connecting. This is true for the behavior of planets, plants, animals; for physical laws such as gravity and magnetic fields; for DNA, cells, atoms; and for the interaction of all living forms.
So as you individually traverse through the ups and downs of your life, you will always create the best outcome for yourself if you take action in the spirit of these attributes.
